Teleférico, Pichincha

The Teleférico is the cable car in Quito, running from the edge of the city up the east side of Pichincha Active Volcano in Cruz Loma. It is one of the highest cable cars in the world, going up from 2950m (9678 ft.) to 4050m (13287 ft.). The ascent takes about 15 minutes.

It is the only place in Ecuador where you can take your bikes on a cable car up to 4050m and prepare for an adventurous descend. As soon as you get off the cable car, you can enjoy the view of the Ruco Pichincha volcano on the east side, and if you turn around you have a big overview of Quito and some of the other amazing volcanos like Cotopaxi, Antisana, Cayambe, among others.

Once you are ready for the downhill, you will have an experienced guy leading you down through the different bike trails.

There are a couple of single trails between 3, 5 and 5 kilometers long. The terrain could change depending on the weather from hard and a good grip to soft, dusty and loose.

Lumbisi Trails

Situated a few kilometers away from Quito at 2300m, next to the Ilaló Volcano and the valley of Cumbayá. Is part of the community of Lumbisi (old indigenous town).

The Community of Lumbisí own the hills where the bike trails are, and they made an agreement with the bike community in Quito to allow the use of this trails.

There are 4 different shaped trails all around 1 and 2 km long. They have all level of difficulty from easy to more Technic ones. Here we will find small jumps that are optional, some roots, flowy sections in a hard compact terrain which will be no problem with the downhill bikes.
